Support Progressive Revenue in 2025 Name*: Email*: Street Address*: City*: Zip*: Message*: As my representative, I ask that you seize this political moment and join the movement for tax justice. In the November election, Washingtonians resoundingly stood up to protect our social safety net and rejected one millionaire’s attempt to buy himself a tax break. These results clearly demonstrate what our state stands for and will continue to stand for. Washingtonians are more aware than ever that our tax code is one of the most upside-down in the nation, with low-wage workers paying three times more of their incomes in local taxes than their wealthy neighbors. We don’t just blindly favor tax cuts – we care about who is paying taxes and how. Washingtonians haven’t fully recovered from the cuts from 2009. The Legislature is contending with a revenue shortfall, and we can’t put our state’s critical programs at risk. We need you, our elected leaders, to prioritize new and progressive revenue options to 1) keep our state programs funded and 2) discontinue the practice of dialing up regressive taxes on working families. The current budget deficit projections show that we cannot keep dialing up regressive taxes that balance our budget on the backs of those who can least afford it, and who need state services the most. We learned the hard way in 2009 that we can’t cut our way out of the problem. We need new, sustainable funding to keep working families, schools, and critical programs afloat. There are three innovative and truly progressive revenue options for us to make a meaningful impact in 2025: The Wealth Tax, The Affordable Homes Act (REET), and The High-Earners Payroll Tax on Employers. We need your support to build a more balanced tax code that generates sustainable revenue. Please lend your leadership to champion a tax code that supports the well-being and success of all Washingtonians. Thank you!
